While the struggling Knicks are New York City's longtime franchise, the Nets will get a piece of the Big Apple by moving to Brooklyn, probably in 2011. But in two years, don't be surprised if Jay-Z helps bring his buddy James to a franchise that will be attractive to play for by then.

Lakers Draft Joe Crawford
With the 58th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the Lakers selected Joe Crawford.
Crawford is a 6′5″, 207 pound guard form Kentucky. In his senior season he averaged 17.9 points per game while shooting 36.4% from three-point range.
Joe Crawford on being selected by the Lakers: “When this day started, I was really nervous. To go to one of my favorite teams, to be in LA, it’s a feeling I can’t explain.”
Mitch Kupchak on the draft selection:
“We had him projected to be drafted a lot higher than 58. He comes from a top-rate basketball program, used to playing in big games. Good competition in their conference. He had a great career.
“It goes without saying statistically that once three-quarters of the draft goes by, when you get to be about 45 or so, those players struggle to make a roster. If they make a roster, it’s likely that they won’t contribute much, at least not initially.”
“We’re a veteran team, but I think he’ll fit in. I think he’ll be able to play with these guys, but we’re not a team in rebuilding mode with a bunch of open roster spots. He’s going to have to come in an earn it.”
“He’s a four-year guy, so he’s played a lot of basketball at a high level. He also played well in the post-season and in big venues. He’s had a great career. If he plays well [in the NBA Summer League], he’ll be invited, he’ll sign a contract and be invited to training camp in L.A. in October.”

cu mica diferenta ca pat riley NU este chris wallace. nu dai pick-ul 2 din draft PLUS udonis haslem care este un PF bun iar la MLE este un steal pt odom de care se stie ca lakers incearca sa scape si care oricum e in ultimul an si o sa vrea extensie.
pt odom dai cel mult haslem + pick dupa #20 sau #25, sau chiar second round pick, mai ales ca odom e cu 1 an mai batrin, are salariul mult mai mare si e si mai predispus la accidentari. haslem a jucat cam 80 de meciuri in medie cu exceptia ultimului an cind cred ca l-au tinut mai mult pe banca din motive de tanking ...

on topic: don't sleep on porter. a fost ultimul care i-a dus pe bucks in playoff, si asta e mare lucru. anul urmator, din cauza ca tj ford a fost accidentat, bucks au ratat playoff-ul si l-au concediat pe porter. in favoarea lui terry stotts. pe care apoi l-au concediat in favoarea lui larry kristoviak.
sa zicem ca din asta am aflat 2 lucruri:
1) terry porter e mai bun ca antrenor decit stotts si kristoviak la un loc. cu mult mai bun. acum e underrated destul de rau.
2) tj ford chiar poate face diferenta, pt ca atunci cind joaca bine e un PG bun. la bucks s-a vazut ce diferenta este intre o echipa cu un PG care isi pune coechipierii in valoare si o echipa fara PG. de altfel si la raptors cind a jucat ford ca lumea (pina la accidentare) echipa a mers excelent.
din pacate, nu cred ca porter (or anyone else for that matter) va avea prea mult success cu shaq. mai ales ca acum ca a avut ocazia sa il ia la pewla pe kobe, shaq o sa fie si mai putin motivat decit de obicei. cu alte cuvinte, s-ar putea sa il vedeti cu un burger in mina pe teren sau tragind un nani pe banca de rezerve. so phoenix are screwed anyway. too bad.
