Tipul asta e considerat viitorul pro-wrestling-ului Hardcore.

Am vãzut ºi eu meciul de la Cage of Death 8 ºi mi-a plãcut.

Drake Younger and Thumbtack Jack : Deathmatch Wrestling Goes Too Far
A quick crash course for those who aren't into this stuff that felt like checking this post out. Deathmatch wrestling is lighttubes, barbed wire, thumbtacks, random shit fans brought like a cactus or a Playstation or some shit from their garage, and a couple of guys beating the shit out of each other with it. When pro wrestlers do it, believe it or not there IS a right way to do this.
Deathmatch fans are known as "bloodmarks", I happen to be one. In fact, I'm a pretty big deathmatch/ultraviolent wrestling fan. However, I saw a match from wXw in Germany from a couple months ago today that quite frankly scared the shit out of me.
Housed in a crappy establishment that can barely be counted as a building, Drake Younger and Thumbtack Jack faced off in what was called a "Saw deathmatch", featuring items from the popular chain of psychological thriller Saw movies. I know, you're already saying "oh shit", right? What I proceeded to watch for about the next 20 minutes was... well... it was fucking gross.
The match started with a nice chain of grappling moves, weapon free and above average. Then came a few stiff chair shots, and a couple bumps through wooden boards propped up on two chairs. Cool. Had I not read all the reactions from this match, I'd think I was in for something great here, but I knew what was coming.
Next, TJ got his back blasted open with a chair that had probably about 20 razorblades welded to it. Disgusting, but it's been done before, it's right up against the line of going too far, but we're still ok. Once this match goes outside the ring, things just get absurd.
Drake takes a powerdrill to the forehead for about five seconds. Not at a straight down angle, kinda across the forehead, but still, this was red flag 1 for me. Powertools aren't supposed to be in wrestling matches. But oh shit, I hadn't seen anything yet.
TJ pulls out a board from under the ring, innocent enough looking. Then he pulls something else out from under the ring, a heaping pile of about 100 HYPODERMIC FUCKING NEEDLES and dumps them all over the board. I was hoping this was shock factor and didn't end up getting used, but... yeah.
After seeing a bump onto a pile of hypodermic needles that had Thumbtack Jack getting up with three of them stuck pretty good in his back and arm, I had had enough. This is the first time I can ever recall that I was watching a deathmatch and couldn't wait for it to be over. This match was closer to a snuff film than a wrestling event.
It looked like they both came out of it ok, the match itself isn't what scares me. It's taking a step back and looking how this subdivision of wrestling has progressed over the years that scares me. Remember when getting creamed with a couple lighttubes was brutal as hell and made the crowd go nuts? I don't either, it's been so long.
In 1995, Ian and Axl Rotten could tear the roof off a building beating the shit out of each other with a barbed wire bat. Today, a wrestler getting thrown shirtless into a pile of lighttubes is the equivalent of a fucking side headlock. Think about that! We are at the point that wrestlers getting mauled with lighttubes is blase, it's played out. That is terrifying.
The match the focus of this rant is on wasn't the end of deathmatch wrestling, or my love for it. Hell, I still pop for a Poland Spring water jug bat spot like everyone else watching. I love stapling the dollar bill to the shoulder. But when we have wrestlers throwing each other into piles of needles in a shithouse in front of about 40 people, what the fuck are we doing?
Had this been a crucial moment in either guys career, somebody dangling on the edge who needed to do something crazy to gurantee a job, MAYBE I could find a way to condone this. Even in that instance, I still doubt it. When it's two established guys who are already over with any crowd they go in front of, it makes something so stupid and reckless that much more uncalled for.
Though they bled buckets, neither guy came out of this looking like they were about to retire. However, deathmatchers and wrestlers resorting to it to put themselves over because they don't have the talent are going to look at this, and they're going to say "I can top that." Somebody is going to try to one up this brutal event. I can't even imagine what that would be, and I don't want to. I just hope we're not already in too deep here, because what I saw today was just disgraceful.
Despite being content with the closing paragraph above, I'd like to end this with a couple lines from fans at czwfans.com about this match.
BaZLnN - this match will hopefully have set the standard of what is stupid and can't really be made to work into WRESTLING, and what can.
BaZLnN (again) - Its times like this where I can't explain why I like watching deathmatches.
sgt.butchmcgroin - The idea that this match will someday look tame, and that people can watch it without being disgusted, appalls me to no end.
Opinia mea ...
Though I like people like Drake Younger and Danny Havoc a lot cause they are some of the most dedicated pro-wrestlers out there and fuckin' love the industry, I can't help but think that many times they are taking it too far.
I hate it when they almost die for some bloodmarks' entertainment and can't help but wonder if those blood thirsty wrestling fans realize that in this rythm those athletes will eventually retire cause a person's body can only take so much. A well given chairshot to the head is for me as brutal as a lighttube storyline-wise and I also remember the times when hitting an opponent with a lighttube would be considered brutal as fuck! I miss those days and I beg that the athletes who do that give their lives some serious thought once in a while cause despite how much you love this industry, it ain't worth dying for in front of 50 bloodmarks.
Wrestling should have a storyline to it and this extreme brawling makes me wonder if this is really pro-wrestling or just plain old streetfighting.

Awesome, my blog got quoted, I really had no clue and just clicked on this because I wanted to see whats up (and if any of it was in english so I could follow).
I think my entry HitScum chose to use above sums it up, but really, somebody has to sit Drake down and have a talk with him.

He recently split from his girlfriend, he said so on his personal blog, mostly due to the ultraviolent pro-wrestling that he does ... so that can't be good.
This guy is going to die in the ring and unlike other crazy redneck deathmatch motherfuckers out there he can fuckin' wrestle ... it's almost like "Sick" Nick Mondo all over again. It has happened to JC Bailey and it will eventually happen to Drake.

Drake Younger does it again. After taking the infamous power drill to the head, he returns to wXw in Germany.
"The Psycho Shooter" Drake Younger returns to Westside Xtreme Wrestling November 24th in Oberhausen to participate in wXw's first ever Strong-Style Tournament. Younger and ROH Superstar Roderick Strong have been the 2 names announced so far.
The very next day at the Season Finale at the Westside Dojo in Krefeld, Drake Younger will take on Thumbtack Jack in a NO-ROPE BARBED-WIRE DEATHMATCH. These two Hybrid wrestlers will battle it out once again in what is sure to be a BLOODBATH!

Drake Younger este unul dintre wrestlerii mei favoriti din federatiile independente, este un death-matcher foarte bun,un wrestler care la ora actuala are sprijinul fanilor CZW si in general,a fanilor federatiilor independente(vezi reactia publicului de la IWA-MS Ted Petty Invitational,CZW Dishonorable Conduct,CZW Down with the Sickness 3 etc.),un wrestler ce se misca foarte bine, face spectacol in ring,ce dupa parerea mea merita mult mai mult decat Brain Damage CZW Ultraviolent Underground Title si sper ca din nou centura sa ajunga la braul lui "The Psycho-Shooter".
