View Full Version : Recommendation Topic

I've seen this on other forums on which there are a lot of smart marks and fewer WWE marks and I do believe this forum needs one as well!
What is this topic all about? Well, this is the place where you basicly recommend a certain federation or a certain wrestler to other users on the forums! I do believe this is a good topic because this forum has grown exponentially during this year after opening the Multimedia section but still, there are a lot of users here that have never seen a Strong Style match or a Ring of Honor show ... which is a shame ... Give them some reasons to watch and maybe via your recommendations I could find a thing or two about some great Indy workers I haven't seen before and maybe I should!
I'm going to start things off as I would like to recommend you guys see Joker ...
He is my Indy draft pick of the Month, he could easily be part of any promotion (including the WWE) ... he has all the right skills, a unique gimmick and a great look ... he can do everything in the ring, can work any type of match though his specialty matches are Strong Style Lucha Libre (a combination between the Hard Strikes and Kicks of a Senshi or KENTA with the mat skills and aerial assaults of any great Luchador)
Can you look at this guy and say he doesn't look cool?

I don't feel like giving long explanations but look out for these people/federations because they are good: Jack Evans, Austin Aries, Kevin Steen, Claudio Castagnoli (http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/profiles/c/claudio-castagnoli.html), Colt Cabana, Samoa Joe, The Dragon Gate Promotion, and (HitScum is going to hate me for only mentioning this one) ROH!!!!

@Snotsnit
I really don't hate ROH ... I truly love it in fact, I only like CZW better!
Joker is great, the Tournament of death match where He gives Robbie Moreno a Joker driver through the glass tubes is awesome.
That's another thing I'm saying ... Joker is that good he doesn't even need 2 do deathmatches to get over ... he's one of the Top Strong Style guys in the world, I really believe he could beat the crap out of Low Ki/Senshi at any given moment  ...

No he's not! :P . Joker is good, but he isnt that good! I see a lot of empty spaces when i watch a Joker match .He really isnt ''one of the Top Strong Style'' guys in the world, how can you say that when there are a hell of a lot more better Strong Style wrestlers in Japan ! Joker is good but i dont see him in the main event. He still has a looooot 2 learn about wrestling.
Heath Scumm
26th July 2006, 11:54
The fact that he isn't Main Eventing (which he is now because he's doing deathmatches) is simply because he's part of a company that is run by Zandig who considers Deathmatches to be Main Event Material ... He is one of the Top Guys in CZW and he returned back 2 Midcard status as he is now the tag-team champion and does less deathmatches ...
I do consider his work in regular matches and Strong Style matches in Chikara pro simply amazing ...
One thing you must understand is that Joker doesn't do the Japanese Strong Style although I do believe he couldn't be embarased in a match against KENTA ... Joker is doing the Strong Style Lucha Libre thing which is mainly focused on spots and hard strikes/kicks ...
But the fact that I'm saying he's that good is that he can do almost any style of wrestling (except the technical mat work which he isn't that good at but he can still do some decent chain wrestling) and he does it well ...
I've stated that Joker has the skills and gimmick to make it big in the US ... I've never compared him to Japan, there's another thing going there ... although I do believe the Japanese fans would go wild for Joker's gimmick and style ... They go wild for Jack Evans, why not Joker?
ANOTHER THING
This is for people who are not familiar with Ring Of Honor ... this is a 4 minute introduction of their top stars, it was on their website a while ago, you'll surely recognize all the Top Guys from TNA's X-Division (except Shark Boy, Sabin, Kazarian and Bentley  ) and many more - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgppTkpxCwA&search=ring%20of%20honor

If I would want you guys to ever see a CZW match than I would have to say this is the one for y'all - CZW Cage Of Death 6 Main Event - Team Blackout vs Team Cash ... You'll see some of the best athletes in the world and this could beat any TLC match or Cage Match you've ever seen ...
This may be the best Hardcore Match of all times and in my oppinion it could be the best Indy match of all times! So many dangerous things going on here, I guarantee you won't be sitting your ass on the chair for one second ...

I know some who seen it live and they were on the far side of the cage and they also thought He was dead, because they didn't see him land.

Thanks for the link, dude ... that match was pretty cool and I really didn't have any issues with it since I didn't think neither Joker or Ruckus got seriously injured in that one .. it was okay overall although I don't understand the purpose of glass in pro-wrestling at all ... can't they just replace glass with chairs or wooden tables? That would be acceptable!
vitamin
30th July 2006, 23:53
can't they just replace glass with chairs or wooden tables?
Nope, because deathmatches are supposed to provide things you won't find by flipping on your TV to catch Raw. Deathmatches = hardcore matches with a little extra added to spice things up :ok: Deathmatches live purely on the shock value of what's happening in the match, nobody is going to be overly shocked by chairs and tables at this point in wrestling's evolution ;) As far as I'm concerned, deathmatches are initially aimed at two groups - people who will never like pure wrestling, and wrestling fans who became bored with it and need something new to drag them back in.
P.S. - does this mean you're not coming on my road trip to KOTDM 2007? :P

I am the bloodmark to end all bloodmarks, but I fnd find myself being drawn back into normal wrestling as long as it's Indy wrestlers like Super Drgon or Kevin Steen and not ROH because they are to pretentious and flippy.
If anyone wants the link to the match ask Hitscum for it, I hate when my media gets leeched and it's happening here, so I gave it to him directly, but I guess I just have to get used to it.

^ share dude and the world will love you :P
besides you must know that this forum is about sharing and above ALL letting people know what wrestling is about, especialy in Romania ... multimedia posted here is another way for the mass public to understand what wrestling is.
Heath Scumm
31st July 2006, 11:24
Yeah Pamplemousse ... in Romania we only have one weekly TNA show presented by my man Big Sexy and my strong style thug DECRET and people here are only getting acustomed with pro-wrestling ... 90% of the population never heard about this sport and we have a lot of people on the forums that recently got to see pro-wrestling and immediatly loved it ...
This forum is for people like those, that's why we don't set post count limits and stuff like that, our Multimedia section was started by 4 or 5 Romanian members who had no wrestling to begin with and wanted to watch some ... and that's our main goal, to give pro-wrestling to people who haven't seen stuff like that yet ...
Wouldn't you rather have the links for one show/match getting leeched and getting to people who really wanna see that thing you uploaded rather than expiring for inactivity?
Back to the subject, I am one of those old-school hardcore fans that really get excited when seing chairs, ladders, tables and trash cans in the ring ... I don't really need barb wire matches and glass and battered and cut to shreds bodies to get entertained ... because in the end it's all about pro-wrestling, it's all about the spots, it's all about the feuds, it's all about the wreslers and their charisma which got us into this sport ... so that's why, you must/can always appreciate hardcore wrestling and pure wrestling for other reasons than barbaric violence and stuff like that ...

I never knew that. I almost feel sorry for you. Here is a question, what wrestling show was shown there that made people like you instantly fall in love with it?
Pamplemousse
31st July 2006, 21:18
I'd love my matches to get to those who deserve it, but I can follow my match around the internet andit tends to get to places that I don't particularly like and people leech it and pass it off as there own and I call them on it and they give me attitude about it. It takes time and effort and money to share and people seem to forget that. That's why I have a bad attitude, I'd have posted tons of full czw and IWA EC and MS shows here if I wasn't worried some ****** like Nick Mondo was going to use it to gain internet rep and act like He did more than copy and paste the link.
Anyway, if you want to post the Joker match on the multimedia board go ahead, but I'm only going to post matches here, no full shows. Fair?
Heath Scumm

If I may re-open the brief "hardcore vs. ultraviolent" debate from up above, I'd like to clarify what I was getting at in my last post a little more. I'll try to make it short.
Over the past three years (in my opinion) WWE's quality has severely fallen off, to the point I can't even watch it anymore. WWE was simply put killing my love for wrestling. Two things brought me back, more into it than ever before. Those two things are guys smashing each other in the face with lighttubes (even if you don't like UV, you can't tell me it's boring) and independant wrestlers who actually have some skill. So, that's my justification for ultraviolence in pro wrestling ;)
As for HitScum's "90% of Romania is unaware of pro wrestling" statement, I weep for you. Do you at least get NFL broadcasts, or have really hot women or..... something? :P
cutuma

I know it doesn't matter to most of the guys on this board, because most of the posts here are leeched from other boards, but if you had to pay for the DVD and then rip them onto the net and all you get is a THX and then see them stolen and put all over the internet by idiots saying they capped and uploaded them you might care a little more.

The hottest girls on the planet..are right here :) .. oh its true .. its damn true!
As for 90% of the country, its not like its hard to get wrestling here, but most people dont care so much for wrestling,or as most would say ''fake sport'' . And also Romania is a soccer country,so its not that big of a deal that 90% are not into wrestling right now.

Well, that's probably because you are 15 years old ... and also, it's not like I don't enjoy this mindless talk about Romanian women, deathmatches and wrestling exposure in the world but maybe in the near future we could return to our topic and recommend some stuff we should watch ...
For instance, I never knew AJPW was starting to grow up again ... they had a pretty good show recently
AJPW, 7/30/06 (GAORA TV)
Tokyo Korakuen Hall
2,000 Fans - Super No Vacancy
1. Nobutaka Araya beat Akira Raijin (6:13) by pinfall.
2. Nobukazu Hirai & Ryuji Hijikata beat NOSAWA Rongai & MAZADA (10:02) when Hirai used an inside cradle on MAZADA.
3. TAKA Michinoku & Katsuhiko Nakajima beat TARU & "brother" YASSHI (10:50) when TAKA used the JUST Facelock on YASSHI.
4. Minoru Suzuki beat Masanobu Fuchi (10:20) with a sleeper hold.
5. Toshiaki Kawada Return: Toshiaki Kawada beat D-Lo Brown (10:59) with a low kick to the face.
6. Satoshi Kojima & Kaz Hayashi beat Suwama & Shuji Kondo (14:50) by disqualification.
7. Keiji Muto, Yutaka Yoshie & Brute Issei beat Taiyo Kea, RO'Z & Buchanan (20:15) when Muto used a Moonsault Press on Buchanan
Also Tajiri came to AJPW and attacked The Great Muta ...

I would like to recommend a PWG match between 2 of my favs : Super Dragon and Jack Evans - http://www.onlinesport.ro/forum/showthread.php?t=51453
3 Reasons why you should watch this highlight video :
1. Super Dragon puts Jack Evans over instead of just killing him ... however, Evans looks literally dead after a vicious Curve Stomp + one of the most amazing combos you could ever see : Dragon goes for a Sitout Powerbomb in the corner, kills Evans as he smashes him into the turnbuckles than amazingly turns it into an STF (Fuck You John Cena ... it's The STF not the STFU! )
2. A women is the referee and she's doing ok!
3. It's only 3 minutes so it won't take too much of your time!

Sorry, if it was up to us, every single smark here would have post editing and moding privileges but overall I assure you, it's no big deal, I only "abuse" my moding power when I stick a topic or something like that, other than that it's all boring maintanance work in merging topics, editing posts, constantly searching the Multimedia section for duplicate topics and stuff like that ...
However, both you and Vitamin could be honorary mods in the International and Multimedia section and by that I mean you can kick noobs asses whenever they actin' fool using vicious sarcasm and you can always get away with it, even through the darkest flaming ... just don't abuse your powers ... make us laugh, make 'em cry, submit the "outlaws" to us, just don't insult and curse any member of the forums ... cuz that's the basic rule here ... other than that, feel free to express yourselves in the boundries of common decency!

hey there, just wanted to throw out some thanks for all the matches you've been posting. i have a request for you regarding present day Japanese wrestlers.
i've been a fan of guys like Liger, Hayabusa, Ultimo Dragon, Sasuke, and Tajiri for years and was wondering if you could give me the names of some present day guys who would be similar in style to these guys. i've been downloading matches from those guys like crazy and am blown away by them. i've watched Liger and Dragon for years and just in the past few years i've been able to get my hands on some Hayabusa and Sasuke matches and loved them. so i was just wondering who you would consider to be the versions of them today. any help would be greatly appreciated, keep up the good work.
Liger is still active, Ultimo Dragon is still active, from the US I can recommend Low Ki/Senshi, The Joker, Davey Richards and Grand Akuma with Japanese influenced styles.
